SEATTLE- Wednesday morning, the University of Washington and Adidas officially unveiled the new football uniforms that will make their on-field debut in the home opener on August 31 against Eastern Washington University.
The new uniforms feature an "Angle of Pursuit" theme, inspired by the angles of the university's iconic "W" logo. Several fans on the internet are referring it to the “three stripe” era or simply as “///”. It was built to work alongside UW's Husky Bold typeface and influenced by the classic jersey designs from the Coach Don James era.
The purple of the uniforms themselves have been made a darker purple to help contrast the gold helmet better.
"Adidas worked very hard, alongside our staff, to strike a balance between providing exciting new uniforms for our players while also honoring the great tradition of Washington football," said Head Football Coach, Chris Petersen. "We're excited to kick off the 2019 season with these new uniforms.”
The new football uniforms are already on sale online. The next uniform unveiling will come on August 6 when the women’s soccer jerseys will be released.
