Sox On The Hill

WENATCHEE – The Wenatchee AppleSox blasted the Cascade Collegiate League Showcase (CCLS) squad by the final score of 13-0 on Wednesday night at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium.

La Mirada, Calif.-native and UC-Irvine pitcher Brett Garcia, who was making his first start of the season for the Sox, tossed five shutout innings, striking out a dozen batters in the process, including striking out the side in both the first and fourth innings.

Wenatchee hurler Peter Sanchez also threw two innings of shutout baseball, while Ryan Altenberger, and Kodie Kolden each blanked CCLS in one frame.

The AppleSox did a bulk of their damage at the plate between innings four and seven, scoring a 12 of their 13 runs during that stretch.

Wenatchee has an off day on Thursday before opening a weekend home series with the Yakima Valley Pippins on Friday.
