LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Cashmere High School basketball standout Hailey Van Lith has committed to Louisville.
The 5-foot-7 guard is ranked as the No. 2 prospect in the nation by Prospect Nation and No. 8 overall and the top guard by espnW HoopGurlz. Van Lith was the Gatorade Player of the Year in Washington last season, averaging 34.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 5.2 steals and 4.9 assists per game as a junior, leading Cashmere to a 23-3 record.
“Hailey Van Lith is recognized as one of the top point guards in her class,” Louisville head coach Jeff Walz stated. “She has been an integral part of USA Basketball and I enjoyed coaching her to a gold medal in this past year’s U19 international competition. Hailey brings with her a unique skill set with a mamba mentality. There is no stage too big, nor a shot too difficult to pull off. She has a unique inner confidence and leadership skills well beyond her age.”
Van Lith signed her letter of intent with Louisville on Wednesday and announced her commitment on Saturday during a ceremony at Cashmere High School, choosing Louisville over Baylor.
Van Lith was named USA Today All-USA first team last season, Naismith High School All-America honorable mention, WIAA Class 1A MVP and Player of the year in both 2018 and 2019 and All-State Class 1A first team in her three seasons at Cashmere. Van Lith has already eclipsed 2,000 points in her high school career and has set every major statistics record at Cashmere with one year to play.
Van Lith and Cashmere begin their season on Dec. 7 against La Salle.
