PULLMAN - Washington State quarterback Anthony Gordon has been added to the Manning Award Watch List, the Allstate Sugar Bowl announced Thursday.
Entering the week, Gordon leads the country in passing yards (2,918, passing yards per game (425.9) and total offense per game (431.1). Gordon is also tied for the national lead in passing touchdowns with 29, and ranks eighth in the country with a 70.9 competition percentage.
Gordon has thrown for at least 300 yards in six games this season, and more than 400 yards in five of those matchups.
The Manning award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. The award is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates’ bowl performance in its balloting.
Gordon was previously named to the Maxwell Award Watch List for the nation’s top offensive player.
Washington State (4-3) heads to Eugene on Saturday to face No. 11 Oregon.
