PULLMAN - Coming off an 11-win season and No. 10 ranking, Washington State football has cracked the top-25 in the preseason Amway Coaches Poll released Thursday.

The Cougars come in at No. 21 to open the season, the first time WSU has been ranked to start a season during head coach Mike Leach’s tenure. It’s also the first time WSU has opened the season in the top-25 since 2004.

WSU is one of five Pac-12 schools ranked in the Coaches Poll. The Washington Huskies come in at No. 12, and the Oregon Ducks at No. 13. The Utah Utes are No. 15 and the Stanford Cardinal No. 23.

The Cougars begin fall practices on Friday and open the 2019 season at home on Sat. Aug, 31 against New Mexico State.
