EPHRATA - Smart move paying your court fine – not so smart including suspected methamphetamine in the same envelope mailed to the Grant County Clerk’s Office.

“Yes I’m serious,” an Ephrata police officer stated.

Officers were called to the Grant County Courthouse after a suspicious substance was found on Tuesday afternoon.

“Upon arrival it appears (the suspect) mailed a small baggie of suspected methamphetamine with her payment for court fines,” Ephrata police stated.

Drug envelope

The name of the woman who sent the envelope was not released. The suspected drug was sent to the Washington State Patrol crime lab for analysis, with charges pending.
