SR 243 wreck

MATTAWA - A driver was injured in a collision involving a semi-truck Tuesday Morning on state Route 243 about eight miles north of Mattawa.

Gaspar M. Mendoza, a 62-year-old Mattawa man, was driving a 1980 Chevrolet Chevette south on SR 243 near Wanapum Village when he rear-ended a 2012 Peterbilt semi-truck that had stopped in a construction zone, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Both vehicles came to rest blocking the highway.

Mendoza was airlifted to Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for his injuries. The driver of the semi-truck, Alejandro Buenrostro, a 43-year-old Quincy man, was not injured.
