CONNELL - Four Othello residents were injured in a collision involving a semi-truck early Monday morning on Highway 395 about 17 miles south of Connell.

Thomas Manthei, a 49-year-old Richland man, was driving a 2000 Freightliner semi-truck east on Eltopia West Road at the Highway 395 intersection. He reportedly failed to yield the right of way and turned left onto the highway in front of a southbound 1997 Honda Odyssey van, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Manthei was not hurt. All four occupants in the van, including 62-year-old Candido Dejesus-Urbano, 25-year-old Guadalupe Aguilar-Lopez, 28-year-old Rocelia Santos-Lopez and 62-year-old Isabel Solano-Martinez, were all injured and taken to Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco.

The state patrol determined inattention by Manthei caused the wreck and he was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
