GRAND COULEE - On Friday, Grant County Commissioners confirmed that Grand Coulee-based Coulee Medical Center plans to build a new clinic in Coulee City. $169,000 in Grant County grant funding is pending for the project.
Grant County Commissioner Richard Stevens says the funding towards the project won’t be made available until Soap Lake’s Hospital District ok’s the endeavor. Stevens says Coulee Medical Center is building outside of its hospital district boundary and wants to avoid any potential litigation should the Soap Lake Hospital District express disapproval of the plan after the funds are granted to the healthcare provider.
Commissioners say they’re waiting for a letter penned by the Soap Lake Health District’s attorney which will state whether it’s for or against it. Stevens says he’s supportive of a new clinic in Coulee City being that many residents in the area have to travel to Grand Coulee or Ephrata for care. Grant County Economic Development Director Brant Mayo says the new clinic will replace the existing facility at 130 N. Adams St. in Coulee City.
Project specifics will be obtained at a later time as we wait for a call back from Coulee Medical Center administrators.
