MOSES LAKE - The Grant County Fair proved popular once again, seeing an uptick in attendance and revenue compared to 2018.

Grant County Fairgrounds Director Jim McKiernan reported attendance was up about seven percent and revenue up 12 percent in the first three days of the fair - Tuesday through Thursday.

Attendance and revenue numbers for Friday and Saturday are not yet available. McKiernan said he is waiting on data from the Moses Lake Roundup but expects those numbers to be on par with the first three days.

“The weather was perfect and I think that contributed to the numbers we’re seeing,” McKiernan said, adding there was still a couple thousand people in the Davis carnival area around midnight on Saturday. “Everything went pretty smooth. We had little glitches but nothing major.”

McKiernan said he’s already working on the budget for next year’s fair, with some preliminary project ideas including creating a master improvement plan for the campground, updates to some of the food booths and seeking a slight increase in the entertainment budget to bring in a bigger musical act.

Dates for the 2020 Grant County Fair are Aug. 11-15. For more information, visit www.gcfairgrounds.com.
