MOSES LAKE - iFIBER Communications and Rock Top Burgers & Brew presented a $500 donation on Thursday to the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin, a result of the iFIBER Burger of the month sold in May.
Both iFIBER and Rock Top pledged a $1 donation to the Boys and Girls Club for every iFIBER Burger purchased last month. The burger creation was a result of many experiments from iFIBER employees with various combinations of toppings and ingredients.
While in attendance at the 22nd annual Boys & Girls Clubs of The Columbia Basin Auction for Kids last October, the iFIBER placed a winning bid to have their very own burger creation featured on the menu at Rock Top in Moses Lake.
Jenn Olson, resource development director with the Boys and Girls Club, said the Burger of the Month has been a longstanding item in the club’s annual auction.
“iFIBER getting it this year was really taking it to the next level for the kids,” Olson said. “When the community comes out and puts an effort like this in for our club, for our kids, it just means more kids can come here, we’re able to serve more kids, we’re able to give them more opportunities that may they don’t get.”
As part of the process, a group of kids from the Boys and Girls Club were also invited to Rock Top in April to prepare their own iFIBER Burger.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin offers a range of youth activities, from academic help to leadership groups, arts and crafts, games and more. The club’s summer camp got underway this week and goes through Aug 9 with a different theme each week.
“Lots of great STEM projects, art projects, community service projects that kids are going to be able to do,” Olson said.
