Kittitas shooting

KITTITAS - Kittitas County deputy Jason Goeman, who shot and killed a man who murdered Kittitas County deputy Ryan Thompson and injured Kittitas police officer Benito Chavez, has officially been cleared in the shooting.

Kittitas County Prosecutor Greg Zempel declined charging deputy Goeman for his actions  the night of March 19 when Juan Manuel Flores Del Toro opened fire following a pursuit into the town of Kittitas.

Following the pursuit, which ended in a trailer park, deputy Thompson moved to take Flores Del Toro into custody. Flores Del Toro immediately exited his vehicle and fatally shot Thompson. Officer Chavez was also shot and was seriously injured. Goeman, who was riding with Chavez, returned fire, killing the suspect.

“Through the pain and anguish of losing Ryan and the injury to Benito, I commend Deputy Jason Goeman for his courageous and instant response,” Kittitas County Sheriff Gene Dana stated. “His actions prevented any further threat or harm to the community. I am proud of all three of them. I would again like to take this opportunity to express my sincere condolences to Ryan’s family and to thank the first responders and the community for all of their support.”

It really took this long? This deputy should have been cleared before the POS he shot even had his hole dug!
