EPHRATA - There’s nothing worse than being crunched for time in the morning and you can’t find your windshield scrapper to clear the frost. Some get creative in clearing their windshield before driving and some ‘chance it’ for the sake of saving time. Local law enforcement says the latter will likely land you in ‘hot water’ if you cross paths with a patrol unit.

According to RCW 46.37.410.2 it states:

"No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster, or other nontransparent material upon the front windshield, side wings, or side or rear windows of such vehicle which obstructs the driver's clear view of the highway or any intersecting highway."

Snow and ice are considered as nontransparent material.

The fine for having an obstructed windshield is $137.
