PESHASTIN – A one-vehicle accident injured a Peshastin man on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred at around 4 p.m. when 45-year-old Jose Luis Lopez-Martinez left the roadway in his 1997 Mercury Mountaineer, struck a guardrail and came to rest partially submerged in the Wenatchee River.

Washington State Patrol Trooper John Bryant tells iFIBER ONE News the cause of the crash has yet to be determined, but that Lopez-Martinez was cited for an unspecified violation. Bryant said alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor.

Lopez-Martinez was able to free himself from the vehicle and suffered minor injuries in the collision for which he was treated at the scene.

The SUV was quickly removed from the river by Mountain Highway Towing after it began leaking fluid.
