MOSES LAKE – Moses Lake soccer knocked off Post Falls 5-2 in their season-opener Saturday, led by two goals from Madison Krogh.
Krogh’s goals came quick in the first half, the first in the 3rd minute on an assist from Emily Mendoza and again in the 5th minute on an assist from Denali Knowles to put the Chiefs up 2-0.
Post Falls’ Maddi Lasher scored the first of her two goals in the 16th minute to make it 2-1 but a goal in the 22nd minute by Christina Mullan pushed Moses Lake’s lead back to two goals.
Miscommunication by the Post Falls defense led to an own goal to give the Chiefs a 4-1 lead heading into halftime.
Lasher scored another goal early in the second half to make it 4-2. Two huge saves by Moses Lake goalkeeper Abbigail Rosenow kept it a two-goal lead until Morgan Skone made it 5-2, getting past the defense and burying a shot past the Post Lake goaltender.
The Chiefs return home on Wednesday for a matchup against Lewis and Clark and 7 p.m. at Lions Field.
