EAST WENATCHEE - We now know who was involved in Wednesday’s fatal crash near East Wenatchee.

Troopers say the crash happened just before 6 a.m. on SR 28 about three miles east of East Wenatchee. Authorities say 55-year-old Michael Ashbrook of East Wenatchee caused the three-car wreck. Troopers say Ashbrook passed a car traveling in the same direction in a ‘no pass zone’.

When Ashbrook saw an oncoming SUV, he swerved into the vehicle he was trying to pass and went back into the oncoming lane and collided with an SUV driven by 44-year-old Tyson Chick of Wenatchee. Ashbrook was declared dead at the scene, Chick was transported to Central Washington Hospital and the driver of the other vehicle involved, 24-year-old Bo Wilson, was unhurt.

Authorities have not confirmed whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
