QUINCY - A new LED readerboard sign has been installed in front of the Grant County Fire District 3 station in Quincy.
The three foot by eight foot full-color sign will primarily be used for firefighter recruitment, along with fire prevention messages to help reduce community risks, celebrations of achievements and emergency messages, according to fire district officials.
The sign was fully-funded through a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant from FEMA totaling $31,000.
“With a traffic flow volume of over 6,000 vehicles that pass by the fire station daily, our messages will be viewed by many and we aim to see an increase in volunteer firefighting recruitment, along with a reduction of community risk factors,” fire district firefighter and Public Information Officer Michele Talley stated. “These will help Quincy and the surrounding communities be a safer place for all of us.”
