PULLMAN- Washington State University punter, Oscar Draguicevich III has been named to the Ray Guy award watchlist for best punter in the nation and the preseason all Pac-12 first team.

This marks Draguicevich’s second time being on the Ray Guy Award watchlist, after making the cut last season. Last year was his first time as a starter and he didn’t disappoint. Draguicevich punted the ball 47 times, averaging 45.7 yards per punt. He sent the ball more than 50 yards 13 times and punted the ball inside the opponent’s 20-yard line 15 times opposed to only six touchbacks. He had 13 punts downed by fair catch. His longest punt was 67 yards and he kicked the ball off once and sent the ball soaring out of bounds.

Former winners of the Ray Guy Award includes Michael Dickon, the punter for the Seattle Seahawks. No Washington State player has ever won the award.

Draguicevich was also named to the preseason all Pac-12 first team. He’s the only WSU player to make the all-conference first team. He finished with an honorable mention at the end of last season, but the two punters that finished in the first and second team were seniors, opening the door for Draguicevich to be the best punter in the Pac-12 this year.

Draguicevich and the Washington State Cougars will take the field again on August 31 when they host New Mexico State in their season opener.
