MOSES LAKE - The City of Moses Lake is holding a roundtable discussion on Thursday regarding potential trial zoning code changes and policy development for cryptocurrency mining.

The discussion is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Moses Lake Civic Center Council Chambers, located at 401 S. Balsam St.

The public is encouraged to attend in order to provide input on possible zoning changes and new policies for cryptocurrency, data centers and server farms.

The Moses Lake City Council previously enacted a 12-month prohibition on new cryptocurrency mining operations, data centers and server farms to give the city time to study the impacts of cryptocurrency operations on the electrical system, land use concerns, and state and local licensing laws. Any previously permitted operations were not impacted.

The city’s Planning Commission will make a recommendation to the council in the coming months.
