EPHRATA- It didn’t take long for the Columbia Basin River Dogs to take the first game in the state championship, Wednesday night. The River Dogs knocked down Lakeside Recovery with relative ease, winning the first game in five innings, 13-0.
The River Dogs scored two runs in the first inning and three in the second before going off for eight runs in the third inning to seal the win.
Dominick Signorelli, Gabe Passey, Josh Williams and Jacob Stibal all has multiple RBIs, Passey led the team with three. Hunter Gibson and Vance Alvarado both saw significant pitching time this game and they combined for a no hitter.
The River Dogs outplayed Lakeside Recovery, not needing a home run or many strikeouts to get the job done. Williams, Stibal and Dax Lindgren each had doubles and Joe Taylor hit a double. Outside of that, the River Dogs racked up singles, finishing the game with 16 hits, and capitalizing on most of it with 13 runs.
The River Dogs will play Lakeside Recovery again on Wednesday night before turning around and playing them for a third time, Thursday morning, at 8:00 a.m.
