EPHRATA- The Columbia Basin River Dogs are preparing for the Babe Ruth Regional Tournament next week and late Thursday night, the schedule for the tournament was released.
The River Dogs will play four games from Tuesday to Thursday and take Friday off before playing in the semifinals and finals on Saturday. Only the champion of the regional tournament will advance to the Babe Ruth World Series, and the River Dogs have gone to the World Series every year since 2013.
“The road to the World Series runs through the Columbia Basin River Dogs,” coach Randy Boruff said following his team’s state title win on Wednesday night.
The River Dogs will open on Tuesday against New West at 3:00 p.m. PT. Wednesday, the River Dogs will hit the field again to battle with the RBI DBs, that game will be at 8:00 a.m. PT
Thursday, the River Dogs will play two teams. They open against Lakeside Recovery, who they just swept in the state tournament. That game starts at 3:30 p.m. PT. The second Thursday night game will start at 6:00 p.m. PT and that matchup will be against the home team, the Calgary Blues AAA.
Should the River Dogs qualify for the semifinals, they’ll play on Saturday morning. The championship game will be played at noon, local time, on Saturday.
