12th District State Sen. Brad Hawkins, R-East Wenatchee

OLYMPIA - Twelfth District Sen. Brad Hawkins has announced the times and locations for the third annual “listening tour” in early September.

Hawkins, R-East Wenatchee, will visit all four counties in the legislative district, joined by his staff, returning to Leavenworth, Cashmere, Quincy, Wenatchee, Pateros, Twisp and Chelan, and adding this year Rock Island, Mansfield and Mazama.

“Doing a listening tour each year allows me to visit communities in all four counties in our district and hear from constituents who want to meet with me and share ideas or concerns,” Hawkins stated. “It’s very helpful for me to hear directly from the people I serve.”

Meetings will be available by appointment at public locations in Chelan, Douglas, Grant and Okanogan counties and are open to individuals, employers, local governments and community grounds.

“I take great pride in being accessible and being a good listener,” Hawkins stated. “I don’t want people to feel that they need to travel all the way over to Olympia in the middle of winter just to share their thoughts with me on issues.”

The listening tour meetings are not town halls, and there may not be time available for day-of, unscheduled visits. Anyone interested in making an appointment are asked to email brad.hawkins@leg.wa.gov or call 360-786-7622.

Hawkins will conclude the listening tour Sept. 7 with a community hike on Chelan Butte near Chelan starting at 9 a.m. The hike is open to the public and no appointment or RSVP is required.
