WENATCHEE — Two suspects were arrested Thursday on suspicion of pulling off a string of vehicle prowls in the Wenatchee Valley over successive weeks.
Makaella A. Leonardo, 23, from Visalia, California, and Patrick J. Malone, 31, of Wenatchee were booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center about 7:30 p.m. by Wenatchee police. Both face multiple charges of second- and third-degree possessing stolen property and trafficking stolen property, plus methamphetamine possession. Leonardo faces a possible additional count of identity theft.
Police said they were called to the Holiday Lodge in the 700 block of North Wenatchee Avenue after hotel staff reported Malone and Leonardo loitering on the property and behaving suspicously. The two were suspected of entering a hotel room with no key and attempting to take a TV set.
When contacted by police near the hotel, Malone and Leonardo were found near a large pile of belongings under some brush, including items that police believed had been taken in recent vehicle burglaries. The two were also identified has having tried to pawn two bicycles that had recently been reported stolen, and showing a stolen ID to the proprietors.
Both remained jailed Friday, and were due for their first appearance in Chelan County Superior Court this afternoon.
