SOAP LAKE - Soap Lake Police say a lengthy foot pursuit involving a drunken driver ended in her arrest Saturday after she and her child were found lying down in a yard to hide from the authorities.
Soap Lake Police Chief Ryan Cox says the 29-year-old woman backed into a truck in front of Lakeside Bistro at about 6:50 p.m., Cox says the woman took off down the road only to be intercepted by a witness who used their car to block the woman’s car.
According to witness statements, the unknown man, who supposedly didn’t know the woman, grabbed the woman’s keys and tossed them to prevent her from driving further.
The woman then grabbed her six-year-old daughter, fled on foot to various locations in the area, using confined spaces to hide and after an nearly an hour of searching, witnesses and police found she and her daughter taking cover in a yard on Lakeshore Drive in Soap Lake.
With a blood alcohol level of .258, the woman was arrested and now faces charges of DUI, reckless endangerment and hit-and-run.
