PULLMAN - Washington State moved up two spots to No. 20 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll after a dominating 59-17 win over Northern Colorado.
The Cougars (2-0) have scored 117 points in their first two games behind redshirt senior quarterback Anthony Gordon, who has thrown for 884 yards and nine touchdowns this season. Gordon currently ranks second in the country in passing yards and is tied for the top spot in touchdown passes.
Washington State will face its first test of the season Friday night when the team heads on the road to play the Houston Cougars (1-1), coming off a 37-17 win over Prairie View. Kickoff for Friday’s game is set for 6:15 p.m. on ESPN.
The Washington Huskies (1-1) dropped nine spots to No. 23 in the AP poll after a 20-19 loss to Cal in a game delayed nearly three hours due to lightning. A field goal with 8 seconds left gave Cal the win at 1:22 a.m. Sunday.
The Huskies return home Saturday for a matchup against Hawaii, a team that has beat both Pac-12 squads Arizona and Oregon State to open the season. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m. on the Pac-12 Network.
