SHELTON – Homes First! of Lacey and the Mason County Veterans Mentoring conduct a public town hall meeting Jan. 20 to discuss affordable housing for homeless veterans in Mason County.
The meeting runs from 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. in the Mason County Public Works Building, 100 W. Public Works Drive in Shelton.
The goal of the public meeting is to create public awareness, provide education and discuss investment opportunities for a project in Shelton.
Homes First! affordable housing has operated in Thurston County for 25 years. The agency owns 31 properties with 82 rental units and housing over 180 tenants.
Homes First!, a nonprofit organization, has served more than 3,000 people.
“We are excited to partner with Homes First!,” said Tammey Newton with the Shelton Housing Authority. “We see the growing need for affordable housing in Mason County and believe this is the program to make an impact on that need.”
State Rep. Denny Heck, Thurston County Commissioner Bud Blake, Mason County Commissioner Terri Jeffreys, and Shelton City Commissioner Tracy Moore will present information.
