Second Harvest truck

SOAP LAKE – More than 10,000 pounds of food was donated to Soap Lake area residents last week through the Second Harvest Mobile Food Bank.

The food bank event, sponsored by Microsoft Datacenter Operations in Quincy, brought food items to 227 households on Thursday afternoon at the Soap Lake First Baptist Church.

Food items were donated by farmers, warehouses, packagers, distributors, wholesalers, retailers and industry associations.

Remaining food that was not distributed was then donated to the Soap Lake Food Bank.

The next Microsoft-sponsored mobile food banks will be in Quincy on Wednesday, April 19 at the Quincy Senior Center and Thursday April 27 at the Warden Senior/Community Center.

Volunteers and cosponsors are always needed for the events. Anyone interested can contact Jack Eaton at jeaton@microsoft.com.
