MOSES LAKE – Moses Lake police say a man crashed on his bicycle while trying to discard heroin from his pocket early Tuesday morning.
An officer spotted Ruben Trevino, a 46-year-old man, riding his bike without a light at about 1 a.m. on South C Street. Trevino rode past the officer and reportedly sped up, according to Moses Lake police.
As the officer turned around to stop the man, Trevino reportedly looked back before he started to reach into his pants pocket as he turned onto West Gem Avenue.
Police say Trevino continued to speed up before hitting the curb and crashing as he pulled a small bag of heroin from his pocket.
Trevino was taken into custody and the bag was found about three feet from his bike. The bag reportedly contained about 11 grams of heroin. Trevino allegedly told the officer the drugs were not his.
Trevino was arrested for possession of heroin and intent to deliver or sell within 1,000 feet of a school.
