MOSES LAKE – The wait is over: WinCo Foods opened their doors on Thursday in Moses Lake.

Shoppers were lined up outside the new 58,000 square-foot store along North Stratford Road Thursday morning. The store officially opened at 9 a.m. but doors were open early to help alleviate the expected crowds and long lines.

The Moses Lake location is the 114th store for the Boise, Idaho-based company, which hired about 170 employees for its new store that is also open 24 hours a day.

Construction began in June 2016 after the start of the project was delayed due to a lawsuit filed raising concerns about the impact to vehicle, pedestrian and bicycle traffic along North Stratford Road.

A judge ruled in April 2016 the group that filed the lawsuit, A Stronger Moses Lake, and their attorney didn’t serve a summons for the land use petition correction and the petition was denied.

Besides Washington, WinCo has stores in Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Texas and Utah.
