LAKE CHELAN — Crews have replaced two major footbridges along the Lakeshore Trail along Lake Chelan.
The U.S. Forest Service, Holden Village and the nonprofit Spring Trust for Trails partnered to replace the bridges that were weakened or lost in washouts in summer 2018. Workers brought materials to the sites by helicopter and boat.
The bridges allow access to the backcountry via Lakeshore Trial and Lyman Lake. "Strong partnerships were critical to the success of reopening these areas just one summer after they were damaged," said Paul Willard, recreation manager for the Chelan Ranger District. "A big thank you to the folks who supported this work to restore safe access to public lands."
