MOSES LAKE – Jose “Kriminal” Rivera, the 16-year-old suspect in an attempted murder, was arrested at a home on Marina Drive in Moses Lake Thursday night.
Officers from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, Moses Lake police, US Marshals Office and the Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team (INET) took Rivera into custody for attempted murder in the first degree without incident, according to a sheriff’s office spokesman.
Tips from the public helped law enforcement find him.
Rivera is reportedly involved with the shooting of Dale Olmos, a 28-year-old Moses Lake man, on Dec. 11.
Investigators claim Jordan S. Wiester, a 21-year-old Moses Lake man, and Rivera shot Olmos in the head because they believe he had a stolen cellphone, according to the sheriff’s office. Olmos was left in a field in the 2,800 block of Road 5 Northeast.
Wiester made his first appearance in Grant County Superior Court Thursday afternoon and bail was set at $1 million.
Detectives are still looking for Gilbert Williamson, a 46-year-old man, as a person of interest. He is described as being a Caucasian standing 6 feet tall, weighing about 220 pounds, with hazel eyes and short brown hair.
The sheriff’s office asks anyone with information about the shooting or the location of Rivera or Williamson to call 509-762-1160. Information can also be sent by email to email@example.com. People providing tips can remain anonymous.
