MOSES LAKE – A Moses Lake teenage bicyclist was injured when he was struck by a car on state Route 17 near Nelson Road in Moses Lake Saturday afternoon.

The 14-year-old boy was crossing the intersection and reportedly did not yield to the oncoming car driven by Kayanne M. Darnell, a 67-year-old Moses Lake woman, according to the Washington State Patrol. The 2014 Ford Fusion struck the teenager and he landed off the road.

Darnell remained at the scene and waited for authorities.

The boy was taken to Samaritan hospital in Moses Lake for treatment.

Police did not say whether or not he was wearing a helmet.

Neither Darnell or her passenger, Jack A. Whiteside, a 92-year-old Moses Lake resident, were injured.
