MOSES LAKE – Two men were seriously injured when their SUV rolled off of Stratford Road and through an irrigation canal Thursday morning.

Franklin Henspeter, a 69-year-old Grand Coulee man, was driving a 2000 GMC Jimmy south on Stratford Road when he encountered icy road conditions. He lost control and slid off the road, rolling the SUV three times, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle went through a dry irrigation canal and landed on its wheels.

Both Henspeter and his passenger Tommas Schoss, a 63-year-old Grand Coulee man, were trapped in the vehicle. Grant County Fire District 5 extricated them from the SUV and they were taken to Samaritan hospital.

Henspeter suffered a ruptured spleen and Schoss suffered a broken back and a broken arm.
