CHELAN - A child was seriously injured in a collision on the Beebe Bridge Sunday afternoon, about two miles south of Chelan.

Gray E. Jensen, a 24-year-old Woodinville man, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado south on Highway 97 when he lost control and struck the bridge. The pickup truck then crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a 2017 Mitsubishi Lancer, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The Mitsubishi was struck a second time by a northbound SUV when the driver was unable to avoid the previous wreck.

Two people in the Mitsubishi, 40-year-old Auburn resident Susan A. Bales, and a 5-year-old girl, were injured. Bales was taken to Lake Chelan Community Hospital. The child was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

No other injuries were reported.

The state patrol cited Jensen for driving too fast for road conditions.

Highway 97 was closed for several hours as troopers investigated the wreck.
