MOSES LAKE – Big Bend’s Jacob McCord was named Most Valuable Player in the Northwest Athletic Conference East Region.

The 6-foot-8 sophomore led the conference in points and rebounds per game, averaging 25.93 points and 12.14 rebounds, and collecting 19 double-doubles on the season. McCord was also selected to the sophomore all-star team.

Big Bend’s Jai Jai Ely and Zach Shepherd were named to the East Region All-Defensive Team. Shephard collected 37 steals and 13 blocks on the season while Ely added 28 steals, including 15 in East Region play.

The Vikings finished the regular season 11-5 in conference play, 19-10 overall and secured a No. 4 seed in the Northwest Athletic Conference Tournament.

Big Bend opens the tournament against No. 1 seed South Puget Sound on Thursday.
