MOSES LAKE – Big Bend’s Jacob McCord has been named the Northwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Year.

The 6-foot-8 forward from Westlake, Utah finished the season averaging a double-double, scoring 25.6 points per game while grabbing 12 rebounds a game, both tops in the NWAC to lead the Vikings to a 19-11 record and berth in the NWAC Tournament.

McCord scored a career-high 43 points against Walla Walla on Jan. 14 and finished all but one game during the season with at least 10 points. He also grabbed at least 10 rebounds in 20 of the Vikings 30 games.

McCord will continue his basketball career at Idaho State University, which is coming off a 6-26 overall record last season in the Big Sky Conference.
