MOSES LAKE – Moses Lake baseball swept a doubleheader against Eastmont on Friday to move into third in the Columbia Basin Big 9 league standings.
After starting the season 0-5, the Chiefs have now won three straight, knocking off Eastmont 3-0 and 7-6 on Friday, and 4-1 on Tuesday.
Starting pitcher Cain Valdez threw a complete game in game one, allowing just seven hits over seven innings.
Cody Goodwin and Cameron Duke went a combined 4 for 6 from the plate with two RBIs to lead Moses Lake.
Down one in the bottom of the sixth inning of game two, the Chiefs took a 7-6 lead on RBI doubles from Evan McLean and Duke.
Moses Lake relief pitcher Austin Valdez shut down Eastmont in order in the top of the seventh to close out the win. Starter Jordan Rios struck out three, allowing six runs, four earned, over five innings of work.
Dominic Signorelli finished 3 for 3 with three RBIs and a run scored in the game.
The Chiefs improve to 3-3 in league play, 3-5 overall and face Davis at home on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
