MOSES LAKE – Moses Lake couldn’t overcome a three-goal deficit at halftime and lost to Eastmont 4-2 Tuesday night.
Eastmont’s Johan Espinoza scored three goals on the night for his second hat trick of the season.
The Wildcats were on the board early as a cross from Eric Perez ricocheted off Moses Lake defender Juan Sanchez just past the reach of goaltender Eddie Reyes.
Espinoza scored his first goal in the 20th minute and put Eastmont up 3-0 in the final minutes of the half with a shot over Reyes that went in just under the crossbar.
The Chiefs came out aggressive in the second half but it wasn’t until late in the game when Anthony Cortez buried a shot from outside the box to give Moses Lake its first goal of the game.
Espinoza put the game out of reach with his third goal in the 78th minute.
Moses Lake’s Erik Vega scored the second goal for the Chiefs in the final minutes.
The Chiefs fall to 0-2 in Columbia Basin Big 9 matches, 1-3-1 overall and return home March 28 to face Davis.
