COUER d’ ALENE - Moses Lake turned in a solid outing at the Tri-State Tournament.
The Chiefs placed seventh out of 61 teams that wrestled in the two-day event at North Idaho College in Couer d’ Alene.
"We had a decent showing ... had five guys place and three others a match away from placing," coach Jaime Garza said. "We're having a great winter ... we're excited ... and the outlook is good for Moses Lake wrestling."
Nick Hara pulled off a major decision by a 13-8 score over Colville’s T.J. Braun to claim the Chiefs lone title of the meet at 120 pounds.
Cooper McCullough dominated in the 132 weight class, going 5-0 against the competition. He gave three-time Tri-State Champion Dalton Young from Lakeside all he could handle in the championship match, but came up on the short end of a 3-0 score to finish runner up.
Hudson Mauseth breezed through the quarterfinals of 170 weight class, but dropped both of his semifinal matches. He then bounced back with a 10-3 decision over Couer d’ Alene’s Vince Ray to place fifth.
Dylan Morris lost by a 9-3 decision to Reardan’s Josey Anderson to place sixth at 182.
Rounding out the Moses Lake placer's was Joel Torres who pulled out an 11-3 decision over Isaiah Shores from Kentridge to take seventh at 160 pounds.
The Chiefs take a break from the mat's over the Christmas holiday, but are back at it in Lake Stevens Dec. 30.
