YAKIMA - Ephrata claimed back-to-back district championships with a win at the Yakima Elks Golf Club yesterday.
The Tigers shot a team total 312. East Valley was second with 321.
Aaron Whalen was low round medalist with a 73. Mason Buchert carded a 76, which landed him in a tie for second. Josh Johnson was +4 after five holes, but came on strong to tie for third with a 78.
"I was pleased with the effort from our guys. Aaron didn't finish well, but still won by three strokes. Mason had a great round, and Josh really turned it on after a shaky start," coach Greg Hewitt said. "We accomplished our goal of taking the district title ... and now the goal is to make it past the first day at Liberty Lake."
Whalen, Buchert and Johnson have qualified for State. Ethan Boyd missed the cut by a stroke and is the No. 1 alternate for the team.
State play takes place at Liberty Lake in Spokane May 27 and 28.
