SPOKANE - The Lady Tigers placed three girls in the Top 8, and Ephrata took the 2A Girls Team Championship at Meadowwood Golf Course in Spokane.

Freshman Kenedee Peters led the field of 40 golfers from start to finish and was crowned 2A Girls champion.

Peters shot an opening round 71, and then followed up with a 68 to finish with a two-day total 139 to win by 19 strokes.

Clarkston’s’ Grace Frazier shot 158 to place second. The Tigers Kendal Sage finished fourth with a 160 for the tourney. Katie Hilliard carded 164 to place eighth.

Tiger Boys

Ephrata Boys placed fifth on the links at Liberty Lake. Aaron Whalen shot a 66 on Day 1, and then followed up with a 67 to take the 2A Boys title.

Whalen claimed a three-stroke victory over Bellingham’s Nick Nolan. He beat two-time defending state champ Matt Marrese from Sammamish by four strokes.

The Tigers Mason Burchert tied for 40th with a two-day total 165.
