Ephrata's Kenedee Peters

RICHLAND – Ephrata girls golf came away with a second place finish in the 2A state championship at Columbia Point Golf Course in Richland.

Sophomore standout and defending state champ Kenedee Peters also finished in second, one shot behind state champion Morgan Baum from East Valley High School in Yakima.

Peters shot an opening round 77, one shot ahead of Baum. A second round 1-under par 71 wasn’t enough for Peters to overcome Baum’s 69. Peters finished the tournament with a two-round score of 148.

Ephrata senior Katie Hilliard finished tied for eighth place with a total of 166.

The Tigers finished with 77.5 points as a team, well behind state champions East Valley’s score of 109.

The second place finish for Ephrata comes off a 2015 2A state championship win.

Ethan Boyd finished with a team-best 160 for the tournament, including a second round 76, good enough for a 20th place tie. Sean Couture finished in the 40th spot, shooting a 170 for the two-round tournament.

The Tigers finished the state championship in 12th place.
