YAKIMA – Jacob McCord poured in 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in Big Bend’s 96-79 win over Yakima Valley Wednesday night.
Runnin’ Vikings Jai Jai Ely added 21 points of his own to go along with seven rebounds and five assists as Big Bend improved to 5-2 in the Northwest Athletic Conference, 13-7 overall and currently sits tied for second in the East Region.
The Vikings held a slim 42-35 lead at half before outscoring the Yaks 54-44 in the second half on nearly 54 percent shooting, including 5-for-10 from three-point range.
Big Bend outscored Yakima Valley on points off turnovers (13-8) and second chance points (16-8).
McCord currently leads the NWAC in points per game (28.55) and rebounds per game (11.90), and has 13 double-doubles on the season.
Big Bend hosts Treasure Valley Monday at 6 p.m.
