WENATCHEE – The Wenatchee AppleSox have added Moses Lake native Hunter Boyd to its 2017 roster.
Boyd, the former Moses Lake Chief, is a sophomore at Yakima Valley Community College. The right-handed pitcher has started eight games for the Yaks this season, posting a 3-1 record and a 4.21 ERA. Boyd started seven games for Northwest Athletic Conference champions Yakima Valley last season.
“I’m thrilled to have Hunter Boyd,” AppleSox and Yaks head coach Kyle Krustangel said. “He is a top-notch guy who is currently uncommitted for next year and has seven offers from great schools. He is a guy that will work hard and is excited to pitch close to Moses Lake. He’s a team leader at YVCC and was a major reason we won an NWAC championship last season.”
The Wenatchee AppleSox is part of the West Coast League, one of the premier wood-bat summer collegiate leagues in the country.
The AppleSox open their 18th season on June 2 at Walla Walla and play their home opener June 8.
