EPHRATA – Quincy soccer took care of Ephrata behind two goals from Freddy Ruiz to take the Battle of the Basin 4-0 on Thursday at Ephrata High School.

Ruiz got the Jackrabbits off to a quick start, scoring his first goal just 10 minutes into the game.

The Jackrabbits took a 2-0 lead into halftime on a goal from Kevin Rios.

Ruiz’s second goal came two minutes into the second half and Quincy’s AJ Gallego put the game out of reach late in the half with a shot past Ephrata goaltender Andres Mendoza.

Quincy posted their third shutout win in a row and sit tied with Toppenish at 2-0 at the top of the Central Washington Athletic Conference and an overall record of 5-1-3. Quincy faces East Valley at home on Saturday.

Thursday’s game is the fourth loss in a row for the Ephrata Tigers. They face Grandview on Saturday at Ephrata High School.
