Quincy Jackrabbits soccer

TOPPENISH – Quincy soccer is heading to the state tournament semifinals after outlasting Toppenish in a 1-0 defensive battle on Saturday.

The lone goal of the quarterfinals match came in the 49th minute from midfielder Ignacio Castillo, who buried a cross from Kevin Rios in the back of the net.

The Jackrabbit defense held strong in the second half, keeping Toppenish from getting any good scoring chances.

Toppenish managed to get just two shots on goal in the game and Quincy goaltender Johan Farias had to make only one save.

Up next for the Jackrabbits is a semifinals matchup against Lindbergh on Friday at 8 p.m. at Sunset Chev Stadium in Sumner. Lindbergh is coming off a 2-1 victory against Anacortes in the quarterfinals.
