QUINCY – Despite a slow start, Quincy wrestling rallied to win eight straight matches, defeating Wapato 43-18 Thursday night.
Wapato took an early 6-3 lead on wins from Axel Salas (126) and Cesar Bruzuela (138). Jose Acevedo evened the score at 6-6, holding on to beat Devon Salcedo 11-9 in the 145 pound weight class.
The Jackrabbits would go on to win the next seven matches, four by fall from Geo Garcia (152), Tanner Wallace, (160), Jerry Hodges (195) and Ruben Vargas (220). Ray Robinson (182) and Rey Rubio (285) won by decision and Wapato forfeited the 170 pound weight class, giving Quincy a 43-6 lead.
Wapato went on to win the last three matches.
Quincy sits at 2-2 in the Central Washington Athletic Conference, 4-2 overall with a dual against Othello Jan. 10.
