Kansas City, MO — The Seattle Mariners continued their hot start to the 2019 season Monday, powering past the Kansas City Royals 13-5.
The game was highlighted by an 8-run 6th inning for Seattle. Mariners 1st baseman Edwin Encarnacion blasted 2 home runs in the inning, the first Mariners to accomplish the feat since Bret Boone and Mike Cameron did it in the same game in 2002, versus the Chicago White Sox.

Roenis Elias earned the win in relief for the Mariners pitching 3 scoreless innings giving up just 1 walk with 4 strikeouts.
The win improves the Mariners to 10-2 on the season, holding 3.5 game lead over the Houston Astros for 1st place in the American League West.
