EPHRATA – Cam Walker tossed a one-hit gem, Chandler Gribble hit a two-run home run, and the River Dogs shut out Charleston 5-0 Friday.
The win evens the Dogs World Series record at 1-1 and keeps the team in the thick of things.
The game got off to a slow start offensive-wise as both teams went down in order the first two innings. Goose eggs lined the scoreboard until Chandler Gribble crushed a two-run shot over the left field fence in the bottom of the fourth to give the River Dogs a 2-0 lead.
Two wild pitches and a two-run double by Colton Kelly in the bottom of the sixth provided the River Dogs a five-run cushion.
Timbo Taylor had the hot bat for the Dogs going three-for-three at the plate with two doubles. Matt Sutherland had two hits in three at bats. Walker went the distance on the bump to record the win.
The River Dogs have a bye Saturday, but get back at it Sunday evening when they take on the Alabama Rawdogs at 5:30.
