River Dogs

CONCORD, Calif. - The River Dogs took three of five games at the Zoots Invite in Concord, Calif.

The team ran off three straight wins and were the No. 2 seed heading into a quarterfinal match up which they lost 6-1.

The Dogs took on host Zoots from Pleasant Hills in a semifinal game, but dropped the contest 3-1.

The teams is hosting a round-robin tournament this weekend.

"It's as a tuner-upper for the North Washington Senior Babe Ruth State Tournament," coach Randy Boruff said. "We're the host team. The tournament kicks off July 13 and runs through the 15th here in Ephrata."

The River Dogs were scheduled to take part in the Firecracker Invite in Yakima July 9-12, but have opted out in an effort to preserve arms for the state tournament.
